Any food that can be lovingly described as “goop” is more often than not a food I’m going to enjoy (This probably stems from how much I enjoyed the food fight scene in the movie “Hook”…Rufio, Rufio, Ru-Fi-OOOOO). For me the sauce is the best part of any meal, and I tend to “ruin” said meal with “way too much” sauce. So, if that meal is essentially all sauce, aside from the sauce transporting carbohydrates/proteins, I know I’m in for a good time.
Indian food, or at least the Indian food that I’ve come to know and love, is probably the goopiest cuisine I’ve come across so far, an assortment of different thickened liquids that are as colorful as they are delicious. Naan, the dip-able component, and Pilau rice, dotted with whole cloves and cumin seeds, are the perfect vessels for the aforementioned “goop”. When I’m feeling like a lost boy in search of delicious bowl of goop I tend to head to Rajdarbar Indian Restaurant, situated on handjob ally just before Knickknack road (wait, I mean on Loi Kroh just before the Night Bazaar.)
The Pilau rice is 70 baht, 35 for the buttered naan, and 150 for the buttered chicken. Expect to pay 250 baht or so per person.
